The name Kiezebrink has been connected for generations with European poultry farming. In the early nineties, the company was founded by Hanno Kiezebrink. He initially focused on falconers and zoos with frozen day old chickens as the main trade. When the veterinary borders were abolished within the European Union it became clear that there was a demand for these products throughout Europe.

After Avian influenza in 2003, Hanno decided to expand the range of products offering a wider choice including frozen rodents. At the end of 2006 high-quality animal diets and supplements for a wider range of animals were also introduced. Michiel Derks BSc was also employed as the company nutritionist to provide customers and potential customers with professional advice.

Still controlled by its founder from the Netherlands, Kiezebrink is now an international wholesaler of animal food and is licensed as a distributor of category 2 and 3 products (HACCP and DEFRA). The UK division of Kiezebrink is located at Barrow, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, and was founded in 2002. It is currently directed by Alasdair Gordon and managed by Sarah Patrick.

In the last four years, Kiezebrink UK Ltd has significantly increased its order processing, freezer storage, and temperature-controlled transport capability to cope with the steady growth the company has experienced. This extra investment in our infrastructure and transport wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the financial support given by Lloyds Bank and grants received from the Growing Business Fund, New Anglia Micro Grant Scheme and the DRIVE Grant which are part of the European Regional Development Fund.

We recently had delivery of a 7.2 ton Iveco Daily freezer van and a 26 ton MAN freezer truck which will help us make delivery of our products and collect raw material from suppliers. We hope these vehicles will help us streamline our productivity and efficiency and offer our customers a fast and reliable delivery service. We received grants for these vehicles through the New Anglia Small Grant Scheme and the Growing Business Fund, which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The New Anglia Small Grant Scheme also assisted Kiezebrink with the installation of a new server, barcode scanning system and stacker truck to help the company to continue to grow and operate more efficiently. In 2021 with the support and involvement of DRIVE and the European Regional Development Fund we were able to extend our freezer storage to facilitate continued growth in the business and create employment in the local area. 



As part of a progressive international organisation Kiezebrink UK is constantly evaluating new products for introduction to the UK market. Law and regulation in food safety, traceability, and animal welfare are of major importance to the management of the company. This is encapsulated in our strapline, 'Focus on Food' and our mission is to supply high-quality, reliable animal feed, along with excellent advice and service.
