Day Old Chicks

The day old chickens come from certified hatcheries that breed chicks for the egg laying hen industry. The male chicks are obviously not usable for egg production, nor are they suitable for the meat production. However, frozen day old chickens are an ideal food source for many animal and bird species including as snake food and for feeding birds of prey.

After sex selection, the male chicks are gassed. They are then transported to the processing location and chilled. The chicks are manually graded with any low quality chicks been removed. The ‘good’ chicks are blast frozen at -29 ° C after they are packed.
